About us

Located in Mwanza, Tanzania, Peace For Conservation (PFC) is a wildlife NGO working towards education of wildlife conservation in the community.

Vision
To enhance community livelihood through inspiration and innovation toward conservation awareness for ecosystem management.

Mission
To provide an improved visual awareness in the community for effective conservation, alongside solid improved livelihood opportunities.

PFC works to:
• Provide training to communities and others who are willing to work towards wildlife conservation appropriate behavior changes, especially to effect change in those persons creating wildlife problems today and those who can help prevent them in the future.
• Reduce pressure to biodiversity and habitats through promotion of ecotourism and engagement of communities living adjacent to protected areas.

These initiatives are achieved through;-
• Facilitating conservation/education/sustainable livelihood initiatives
• Engaging and connecting with local communities to raise awareness and promote ownership and action
• Uniquely engaging youth though innovative platforms that include education, sports, music and film
• Providing a platform for youth to network and have their voice heard – supporting the next generation of conservationist
• Marine, freshwater (lakes and rivers) and terrestrial habitat restoration
• Raising international awareness of Tanzania’s unique biodiversity
• Working with partners and stakeholders to form mutually beneficial collaboration’s

Activities/Prograns:
• Community Conservation entrepreneurship (CCE): This program is designed for entrepreneurship in Biodiversity Conservation, with an emphasis on elements of self-help initiative, community capacity building and local resources mobilization, a community’s project ownership and joint management of the conservation program.
• Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project in schools: The overall goal of our water and sanitation projects in school is to ensure that rural schools have access to Friendly toilets and source of water to sustainable safe water sources and to improve the health and socioeconomic well-being of children through the provision of sustainable safe water, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
• Child to Child Elephant Project (Health and Conservation): Training workshops cover: dental checkup, HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, cancer awareness and prevention, water sanitation and health, sexual reproductive health and Important of nutrition to children.
• Human Elephant Conflict Mitigation (HEC): By using beehives as a fence it is possible to reduce crop losses by deterring elephants from entering farms (elephants are fearful of bees) and thus providing farmers with additional income from beekeeping and the sale of elephant-friendly honey.
• Soccer (Football) for Conservation: Using Soccer (football) for campaign on elephant poaching is vital tool to spread information in a rural community living close to protected area, football tournament involves more people who came together easily and quickly, also it can help to reduce HIV/AIDS infection among youth. Youth will spend time on sport.
• Dance for Conservation: We organize community events for conservation, with the title Dance for Conservation, whereby dancer groups participate in the competition event to sing a song with a message to discourage communities who collude with poachers to destroy wildlife.
