Qui sommes-nous

Honduras Child Alliance (HCA) is a volunteer-powered organization, focusing our hearts and talents as a team to operate educational enrichment and healthy living programs for children in Honduras. The projects started in 2009 and was founded as HCA in 2012.

The Honduras Child Alliance helps children gain access to opportunities by developing essential skills. United by the desire to improve quality of life in El Porvenir, Honduras for both children and adults, HCA coordinates community-based programs to support educational enrichment and healthy living. From many countries and backgrounds, we work together to reinforce basic academics while also enhancing creativity, the development of critical thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
The HCA seeks volunteers with open hearts and open minds to 'hands-on' help operate our educational enrichment and healthy living programs for children, teens and adults in El Porvenir, Honduras. Programs include: English & Spanish literacy - computers - arts - intro to science - sports and fitness - group skills - conflict resolution a

The heart of our program lies in the combined passion of our volunteers, project managers, donors, and directors.

Our work with children
• We want children to learn to make good choices, so we help students distinguish between fact, opinion, interpretation, and judgment.
• We encourage creative problem solving – – so we inspire children to use their imaginations.
• We support our students as critical thinkers, so children are invited to ask questions and evaluate potential answers.
• We expect children to become engaged citizens – – so they are held accountable for their actions.
• We wish for our children to live in a peaceful world, so we model solving conflicts without violence.
• We develop social skills and teamwork and provide English language instruction so children have the benefit of being bilingual.
• Our students work to improve their literacy in Spanish and are introduced to science and the arts.
• Many children have never touched a computer and so this essential ‘survival skill’ is included as well.

Programs
• ‘PEP’ means Porvenir English Program: EP+ for elementary age kids, includes English instruction, computers, arts
• The Vacation Activities Program (VAP) provides educational enrichment, group skills, and creative arts during school break.
• The Healthy Snacks program provides a protein-filled snack and models healthy food choices.
• Building Baños Is a satisfying, 6-day project for work-groups and ongoing volunteers interested in supporting hygiene by building a bathroom for a family in the community.

Eve Horowitz (USA) is the Founder and Executive Director of the Honduras Child Alliance (HCA) and she coordinates the recruiting and placement of our international volunteers.
