Qui sommes-nous

CADUS (formerly named Phoenix) is a charitable and independent humanitarian aid organisation, founded in 2014 and based in Berlin. We initiate innovative projects, focussing on needs-based capacity building to help people help themselves.
CADUS develops and implements strategic and technical solutions for emergency response by activating our wider networks, and in cooperation with local partners of communities affected by disaster and conflict.
Innovations are affordable, repairable, and open source. Direct help in the form of humanitarian aid is offered to affected communities based on their needs. Along with offering direct support, CADUS assesses structural problems and uses its public voice to address these challenges in an effort to make humanitarian aid sustainable and to promote global solidarity.
Our team develops projects based on their variegated professional experiences and competences within different lines of work. The interdisciplinary and European wide cooperation with several partners and the consideration of social, sustainable and ecological aspects is understood as a matter of course.
Effective teamwork, interdisciplinary and critical reflection of established NGO-practice, as well as the early involvement of the local communities are central values for CADUS.

Projects:
• Crisis Response Makerspace: In Europe's first-ever Makerspace for the humanitarian sector, practical experiences from our missions flow into the developement of new technical solutions and concepts. With the help of creative people from our extensive network and cooperations with universities we work on solutions to make our aid even more effective. Preferably low-cost, open source and diy. The first idea for a project, the first draft and the practical implementation are just a few metres away.
• Emergency Response: From now on CADUS supports the establishment of a field hospital in the al-Hawl camp in northeastern Syria. Together with our local partner organization we equip the hospital, train medical staff and will finally take over the operation completely. This will significantly improve the acute and long-term medical care situation.
• Mobile Hospital 2.0: Medical help: fast, efficient, flexible in application and economical. These are the conditions for our Mobile Hospital 2.0. A complete funtional hospital based on shipping containers is our aim.
• AERU - Airborne Emergency Response Unit: It´s often impossible to bring relief supplies where they are most needed. But for airplanes there are no destroyed bridges and streets. We develop a civil airdrop system for relief supplies that is economical and everywhere applicable. Also we train rescue teams in parachuting for effectively emergency rescue.
