About us

Cambodian Children’s Trust (CCT), co-founded by Tara Winkler and Pon Jedtha, is a non-profit child protection organisation based in Battambang, Cambodia that prevents children from facing adversity.
CCT was initially set up in 2007 as an orphanage to provide the children with a safe new home. Shockingly, they discovered that the children were not orphans and started the challenging journey of reuniting them with their families. CCT was then transformed from an orphanage into a holistic, community-led model called the Village Hive.

Our mission is to create a model of preventative child protection that can be replicated and scaled across Cambodia.

Our holistic, community-led Village Hive model empowers families and achieves transformational change for vulnerable children, giving them opportunities to reach their full potential in life.

Our work
• We mobilize community child protection networks who identify vulnerable families within their village and facilitate tailored interventions.
• We build support networks around vulnerable families who help to ensure the ongoing safety and well-being of children.
• We bring vital support services into communities to support and strengthen families, which means that children are not separated from their families to access nutrition, health care and education.

Services include:
• enrolling children in public school
• satellite community centres where children can access hygiene facilities, nutritious meals, health care, counselling and supplementary education.
• Parenting skills workshops
• Income generation and access to employment
• Financial literacy for families
• Crisis intervention
• Preventative health workshops
• Access to existing government support services such as ID poor cards, medical clinics, maternal health, school scholarships
