About us

The Gift of a Helping Hand Charitable Trust (TGOAHHCT) is a non-profit organization established in 2002 to be the help for the needy, the care for the seniors and veterans, the love for the domestic violence victims, and the home for the homeless. The purpose of the organization is to serve the needy, underprivileged, domestic violence victims, veterans, underserved, victims of child abuse, economically disadvantaged, discriminated, and poverty-stricken families and individuals residing in distressed communities in Southeastern Michigan.

Our programs, services, and activities offered on a day-to-day basis provide support and assistance to appropriate individuals and families in metropolitan Detroit, Michigan, and other cities in Wayne County.

Our Visions
• To help eliminate hunger, poverty, and homelessness in Michigan.
• To make additional Human Services Programs available to meet the needs of individuals suffering from hunger, poverty, and homelessness in Michigan.
• To collaborate with other Human Service Agencies addressing the same needs and providing the same services.
• To provide emergency shelter for domestic violence survivor and their children throughout Michigan during these tough economic times.
• To continue to provide affordable housing to low-income families and individuals.
• The Gift Of A Helping Hand Technology and Financial Educational Training Program will make available support groups, financial training classes, job training, and educational training programs to help individuals become self-sufficiency through technology training, asset building and accumulating assets.

Our Missions
• We provide safe housing for veterans and domestic violence survivors and their children.
• We provide technology and financial education trainings for economically disadvantaged individuals in helping them to become self-sufficiency and learning the skills for career advancement.
• We provide basic needs to thousands of families and individuals requesting our assistance during these challenging times.

Our Programs
• Care Packages For Veterans: Helps us to provide care packages for thousands of disable, homeless end economically disadvantaged Veterans in Michigan and all around the world. More than 40,000 homeless Veterans and 13% of Veterans in Michigan are disable. 11% of homeless veterans in America 3.9 million disable Veterans in America.
• Take a Leap to Learn Fundraiser: Sponsors Helping Hands Technology, Career & Financial Empowerment Education Training Center.
• Feed the Hungry: The program focuses on providing hot meals to children, seniors, and homeless individuals three days out of the week. In addition, we distribute food boxes to the needy in southeastern Michigan.
• Transitional Housing Assistance: his program was launched to provide shelter for women who are suffering from various forms of domestic violence – emotional, verbal, and physical. This kind gesture from TGOAHHCT is extended towards the women’s children, too. This initiative also targets children and veterans who are homeless.
• Computer Technology Training: This training program is to assist these individuals in improving the quality of their life through skill acquisition and job training, which will promote more self-confidence and self-esteem, and a greater future orientation and hope.
• Financial Education Training: This training program primarily targets domestic violence survival women. The program equips such class of women with the necessary education which provides them the opportunities to be able to save and accumulate assets.
• Give A Toy, Get A Smile: We give new toys and electronics to children battling with terminal illness, vulnearble children struggling in disastrous areas, vulnerable children and teens residing in distressed communities and children and teens in foster care and group homes.
• Cat & Mouse Transportation: Cat & Mouse Transportation offers taxi service and transportation for disabled individuals throughout Eastern Michigan. We are offering this services to help disabled individuals and individuals lacking transportation to get to their destination in a safe and timely manner. The purpose of the service is to meet the needs of individuals seeking affordable transportation. The mode of operation of the service is to provide safe, reliable, and affordable transportation for disabled and needy individuals throughout Eastern Michigan.
