Qui sommes-nous

Centre ValBio (CVB), an US based non-profit organisation, was created in 2003 to help both indigenous people and the international community to better understand the value of conservation in Madagascar and around the world through research, training and education. It encourages responsible use of natural resources in order to promote sustainable development in Madagascar.
CVB has a world-class research station sited on the edge of Madagascar's beautiful and abundant Ranomafana National Park. Under the direction of world-renowned primatologist Patricia Wright, Centre ValBio facilitates hands-on science to sustain the resources and people of Madagascar. In collaboration with villagers, we're expanding the frontiers of knowledge while safeguarding biodiversity for future generations.

CVB’s mission has three main objectives:
• To promote world-class research in one of the world’s most biologically diverse and unique ecosystems;
• To encourage environmental conservation by developing ecologically sustainable economic development programs with local villages;
• To provide the local villagers with the knowledge and tools to improve their quality of life through projects focused on sanitation, diet, and education, and ultimately reduce poverty in the area.

Programs
• Research: Long-term surveys in Ranomafana National Park (RNP); Tropical Ecology Assessment and Monitoring (TEAM); Participatory Ecological Monitoring
• Conservation: Creation of New CommunityProtected Areas; Reforestation; Income generating activities related to reforestation;
• Capacity Building & Training: Study Abroad at CVB; Volunteers and Interns; Workshops, Meetings and Trainings; Malagasy Student Research
