Peer To Peer Uganda (PEERU) is a registered national non-profit, non-gevernment organization that was founded in 2013 by a group of young people who volunteered their time to work towards social transformation through reaching out to fellow young people in rural communities of Uganda.

PEERU provides, equips and inspires young people (12–30) years in Uganda with high quality, high impact and gender-sensitive sexual and reproductive health and rights information through capacity building, specialized service referral, issue-specific advocacy, strategic partnerships and life skills through rights based programming.

Our Mission
Our mission is to implement strategic behavior change communication interventions that address key issues related to Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights and HIV/AIDS among young people in Uganda.

Our Vision
To see young people living a responsible livelihood through making informed decisions and life choices.

What we do!
• As a youth led and serving organization, PEERU puts out its priority on reaching out to the youth mainly in inadequately served communities and rural setting with our programming putting more of our emphasis on knowledge acquisition, community sensitization and awareness creation around areas of sexual and reproductive health in a bid to spread the message to our fellow young people in Uganda.
• We seek to extend this knowledge to various communities in Uganda by carrying out age appropriate and issue specific interventions through implementing age appropriate sensitization campaigns and programs, peer led activities and training programs as avenues to address challenges that the youth face. Through implementation of youth led strategic and behavioral change communication interventions, we are making bold steps and progress in the dissemination of SRHR and HIV/AID’s interventions to the youth by communicating issues concerning youth sexuality and well-being.
• With a strong volunteer base, we are working with peer educators through implementing mentorship programs with the in school and out of school youth. PEERU is embracing the use of technological advancements; use of mass communication, online media (social media platforms) and establish strategic partnerships with other major players working in/around the field of SRHR and HIV/AIDs as we communicate issues concerning youth sexuality, sexual health and well-being.

Our projects:
• Am Not A Statistic: This is a media campaign meant to inform stake holders and policy makers and also create awareness about the existing issues and challenges that young women and girls face with addressing teenage pregnancy issues during and after pregnancy.
• The Good Health Initiative: The Good Health Initiative (Goheal) is a project that was specifically tailor made for the out of school communities of young people who are affected and are also vulnerable to STI, HIV/AIDS , teenage pregnancy, and related issues caused by limited access to Sexual reproductive Health information and services. The project works hand in hand with already existing community clubs to coordinate and reach out to project beneficiaries. In communities where there are no clubs existing, the project works towards creating youth clubs and work towards building their capacities so as to be able to sustain themselves and also be in position to reach out to more young people with in and around their communities. Furthermore it aims at working towards creating networking opportunities to promote learning. Activities focus on youth-led media, youth rights, and youth involvement in community decision-making, and other methods.
• Girl’s Act Campaign #GirlsKisoboka: In partnership with AHF Uganda CARES, Peer To Peer Uganda (PEERU) is implementing the Girls Act campaign dubbed Girls Kisoboka which is a multi-institutional drive that primarily aims at scaling up the uptake of HIV/AIDS services and other connected support services.
• READY Teens (Resilient Empowered Adolescent and Young person): The goal of the READY Teens program is a healthy and empowered adolescent (10-19 years) who feel free and safe to express themselves and access the services and support they need.
• Annual Youth Mentorship program: The program is aimed at building a generation of all rounded young leaders and mentors who shall in turn inspire fellow young women and girls towards attaining a nation of informed, inspired and self-driven youth in health, employment and the labour market.
