Qui sommes-nous

Poverty Eradication Mission Uganda (PEM-Uganda) is a woman and girl child initiative which began as a dream by a young man at the age of 19 in 2012. Having been raised up by his grandmother in a small village called Misoli in Mayuge district Uganda who took him up at the age of 3 years after his mother left him., Kiirya Brian Waiswa developed a strong attachment to Women (the Mothers of a Nation). It’s out of this simple desire that gave birth to PEMU in 2014 on a core goal of empowering Women and Girls affected by poverty. PEMU was later registered as a non-government organization
PEMU was founded in 2014 and officially registered in 2018 as an NGO. PEMU has rooted its work in the district of Mayuge, Jinja, Kamuli, Bugiri and Iganga. From access to Safe Clean Water to Safe Motherhood plus Maternal Health, from Access to quality Education to empowering the youths to become more self reliant, from working with available local resource to create wealth to sexual reproductive health and rights.

Vision: A Uganda with healthy and empowered women and girls accessing quality and equitable health and care services at the same time seeing that their rights are respected in Uganda.

Mission: To contribute towards raising the level, quality and equity of health and care services and advocate for the women and girls in Uganda through increasing access, advocacy, empowerment and working with other development actors

Objectives:
• To work with women and teenage mothers and communities experiencing poverty to empower them to address poverty
• To work with organisations to build a strong anti-poverty network in Uganda.
• To support the development of policies which promote social justice and combat poverty
