About us

Peduli Anak Foundation helps underprivileged children in Indonesia by providing family-based residential care, education, family care, medical treatment, and legal support.
Peduli Anak Foundation (also known as Stichting Peduli Anak) was registered on 9 January 2006 as a non-profit organisation and is mainly responsible for creating awareness, providing information, fundraising, funding the operations of its partner organization in Indonesia and supervising the correct execution of its mission and vision.
Yayasan Peduli Anak, registered on 4 February 2006 is the Indonesian independent partner organisation of Peduli Anak Foundation in the Netherlands responsible for the operations and execution of the mission and vision of the Foundation.

The mission of the Peduli Anak Foundation is to fight for the rights of underprivileged children by providing shelter, education, medical support, advocacy and family care.

Our vision is “Every child in the world deserves a chance to live a happy and healthy life, free from poverty, exploitation and violence”.

What we do?
• Family-Like Care: In the beginning, Peduli Anak provides shelter homes for street children, high-risk and neglected children, orphans and abused children. These big homes are occupied by 20-48 children with 2 counselors in each house at all times. The homes are designed to give them a safe, structured, relaxed and home-like environment.
• Elementary School: Peduli Anak decided to build its own elementary school where children in Peduli Anak and children from poor families could have access to good education free of charge. From books, lunches to the extracurricular activities, we provide everything for the students in Peduli Anak Elementary School.
• Health Care: Peduli Anak’s well-equipped clinic provides free-of-charge preventative and primary care. Children receive check-ups on arrival and their medical needs are assessed. Afterward, they are registered with doctors, nurses, dentists, and opticians. The clinic also provides medical services to surrounding communities at no charge. Peduli Anak’s children and staff frequently receive information and advice with regards to a healthy diet, sex education, the advantages of regular exercise, road safety and the risks of smoking.
• Family Care: The Peduli Anak’s Child and Family Welfare Programme aims to support disadvantaged children and their families by allowing children to focus on education. Parents also receive training, counselling and supervision to help them keep their children at home.
• Child Advocacy/Legal Aid: Peduli Anak supports the Child Protection Services and Social Services in helping children who have experienced abuse and neglect by providing a safe, child-friendly environment and assistance for interviews, counseling, and medical evaluations.
• Transit Homes: Peduli Anak provides transit homes for children and young people while they are waiting for placement in suitable alternative care, in process of reuniting with their family or while receiving support in integrating into the community.
• Emergency Shelter: Peduli Anak Emergency Shelter provides shelter and care in a safe and structured family-like environment. Children who come to the Shelter are based on a referral from the Child Social Agency or related government authorities. They have been either removed from the care of their family or no responsible adults can be located. Children will be enrolled to Peduli Anak elementary school and follow our daily activities, while their situations and reasons for family separation are being assessed.
• Extracurricular Activities: Our extracurricular activities are ranging from sports, arts to foreign languages. Children of Peduli Anak and from the villages nearby can join these activities in the afternoon or weekends. Additional classes and activities are organized within the volunteer program. Examples of past activities are football, girls/boys club, mandarin class, calligraphy, yoga, sewing class, hairdressing, and makeup.
