Qui sommes-nous

Fondation Artisans de la Paix et du Développement au Rwanda (FAPDR) is a non-profit organization (NGO) that executes developement projects in Rwanda.

Our mission
We fight against poverty and for human rights. We try to support the path to unity and reconciliation in Rwanda after the Genocide of 1994.

Our objective
Improving the living conditions of the Rwandan people - especially of vulnerable groups like streetchildren, orphans and widows.

Activities
• Micro credit bicycle projects: The bicycle micro credit project helps to increase income, to become independent and to open new markets. The bicycles are saving transportation costs and time for bringing the crops to the market. They also make the collecting of firewood and water much faster and enable the beneficaries to get a job in a bigger area. Through the improved mobility children can often profit by getting better access to education. Eventually the saved money can improve their whole living conditions and will give them the opportunity to extent their cultivation area.
• Reconciliation and Unity projects: This project aims to allow reconciliation and unity among ex prisoners and Genocide survivors of the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda. Therefore three stages were implemented: Training in democracy, good governance and human rights; Joint goat raising of a genocide survivor family and an ex prisoner; Joint plantation of pineapples
• Energy Saving Stoves for Bugesera: Our new project deals with the distribution of energy saving cooking stoves. he aim is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and fight the ongoing deforestation - problems that are directly linked. Due to the high population density in the Bugesera District, a big part of the natural forests are already deforested. With the help of energy saving stoves, that consume 70% less firewood compared to the traditional, inefficient 3-stones and emit a lot less smoke, this process can be alleviated or stopped.
