Qui sommes-nous

Union of Community Development Volunteers (UCDV) is an indigenous humanitarian Non Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in 2004 and dully registered by the National Registration Bureau (NRB) for Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Uganda under charity number S.5914/9052.

Vision Statement: To be a leading humanitarian agency in promoting and embracing the spirit voluntarism to the vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the Uganda.

Mission Statement: To transform the lives of the extremely marginalized communities through a community voluntary - led strategy.

The followings are the objectives of Union of Community Development Volunteers (UCDV)
• To provide Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services to those with the greatest need.
• Food security
• To provide education support to the Orphaned Vulnerable Children (OVCs)
• To provide relief assistance during natural disasters/calamities including food, clothes, shelter among other items.
• To protect the environment
• Working tirelessly towards alleviating poverty by providing sustainability programs to the needy through creation of Income Generating Activities (IGAs) to break the cycle of poverty which plagues them.
• Medical care services to those in need.
• To provide basic vocational skills trainings to the school drop-outs with emphasis on girl child.
• Address climate change mitigation and adoption
• General Community Development
• To network with other similar organizations with similar objectives both locally and internationally.

UCDV has a service-oriented approach that encompasses volunteer engagement as a key component of its operation in support to the weakest members of society; the poor, the sick, the hungry, the underserved and the disadvantaged.
UCDV is a grass root organization that has 30 volunteers working to do good in the community. They secure homes for orphans, teach HIV/Aids prevention, train communities in health, sanitation and hygiene and many other services.

Activities:
• Expertise in WASH:
• Construction of protected spring, shallow wells and bore holes.
• Construction of Ventilated Improved Pits (VIPs) toilets for school,
• Rain water harvesting tanks
• Addressing climate change mitigation and adoption
• Environment protection
• Community sensitization on WASH/good hygiene and sanitation practices – Participatory Hygiene And Sanitation Transformation (PHAST), Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) and School Led Total Sanitation (SLTS) programs.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
