About us

The DYERS association operates a centre for integration and inclusion and was founded more than 20 years ago as a meeting place for people with and without disabilities.

In the dye works, the house at Peter-Hansen-Platz in Oberbarmen, there are
• a varied and varied cultural program,
• many different counselling services including peer counselling
• CoKoBe: KoKoBe Wuppertal is a contact point for adults with mental and multiple disabilities, their relatives and carers and professionals.
• meetings and information events of many self-help groups,
• Language courses for refugees with volunteers,
• courses for exercise or relaxation for people with and without disabilities and for seniors,
• meditation and music (also for children),
• theatre projects for children, adolescents and adults,
• Café: Delicious home-baked cakes and pastries are offered there. There is a very reasonably priced lunch and from 12.00 to 21.00 a variety of light dishes, some vegetarian and some vegan.
Some immigrant organizations have found a home in the house on Peter-Hansen-Platz, only the house is simply too small for more. So the DYERS association offers migrant organizations and other associations the opportunity to rent offices and conference rooms in a second location, the Büngerhaus at Wichlinghauserstr. 38.
The project "Verein (t) in Wuppertal" is building up there, an inclusive meeting place of different cultures.

The club hired a “street caretaker” in September 2015. He establishes contacts in the neighbourhood around the Berliner Straße and listens to the needs and concerns of the citizens and owners, the business people and also the other clubs. Then they will find solutions together.

The DYERS association is a member of the Oberbarmen Citizens' Forum and is also on the Advisory Board for the Disposition Fund in the context of the Social City. The association is also a member of the Joint NRW and the LAG Socioculture.

Iris Colsman is the President of the DYERS association – Centre for Integration and Inclusion.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
