About us

The non-profit association Neurosurgical Aid India was founded in 2005 in support of its partner association the Synapse Brain and Spine Foundation and the surgeons in the Deenanath - Mangeshkar - hospital, so that as many people there as possible can be provided with modern medical care.

The purpose of the association is to support primary care for the lower strata of the population in India because:
• These patients do not have the money for their treatment. Most of these patients are the main earners in the family. Health insurance in India is inadequate or does not exist at all for these people.
• There are no neurosurgical stations in most state hospitals in India.

The mission of its statutes is fulfilled in particular by:
• The organization and implementation of medical assistance, such as ambulance services and agents on site, by employees of the "Synapse Brain and Spine Foundation, Puna / India" and "Helping Hands Poona"
• Support for operations, hospitalization, aftercare, rehabilitation, medicines and equipment
• Support for hospitals and charitable organizations in India
• Purchase and provision, as well as aid for the maintenance and repair of urgently needed medical devices

Activities
• Through donations and membership fees, the purchase of surgical instruments for spine surgery has been successfully completed. The transport costs and customs fees were covered by our Indian partner Synapse Brain & Spine Foundation.
• Charity concerts

Sigmund Opferkuch is the Chairman of Neurosurgical Aid India.
