About us

Founded in 2014, Friends of Bobbi Bear, now Friends of Uthingo e.V., helps children who have been victims of sexual violence in South Africa and supports the work of Operation Bobbi Bear in Durban, South Africa, both financially and with workers on the spot.

Our work
• Acute Assistance: Children who have been victims of sexual violence are placed in a safe house and provided with medical care. The focus is on the prevention of a possible HIV infection of children through a so-called post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). In addition, the children are mentally cared for.
• Prosecution: Together with the authorities in South Africa, evidence is collected, perpetrators are identified and legal action is initiated. The children are also intensively accompanied during this difficult phase of the process.
• Long-term care: Children who can not be returned to a secure family environment will be provided for in long-term care. In addition to accommodation and food, their school attendance is ensured so that the children have good future prospects. Medical and psychological care continues.
