About us

Das macht Schule has been online since 2007, nationwide, non-profit, independent, founder-led and is funded by foundations, sponsoring members and donations.
Behind this are Das macht Schule Förderverein e.V., founded in 2006, for securing the financing and Das macht Schule gemeinnützige GmbH, founded in 2008, for the operative business.
We work with a small professional team of permanent employees, punctually supported by volunteering and pro bono support.

The core of our work is the effective promotion of participation in practice projects. With a 2-level enabling approach, we enable teachers to teach their students skills. The founder, Bernd Gebert, is Ashoka Fellow. Das macht Schule is a founding member of the Federal Association of Innovative Educational Programs (“Bundesverband innovativer Bildungsprogramme”, BIB), a member of the Association of German Foundations (“Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen”), the Network Foundations and Education (“Netzwerk Stiftungen und Bildung”) and the Social Entrepreneurship Network Germany.

Our vision is that everyone leaves the school with competences that allow them individual realization opportunities, successful living and active participation in the development of society. Prepared for the new world of work. In the projects, students get responsibility, experience participation, independence and practical relevance. They improve their social and action skills and train the 4 C’s: creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking – the so-called 21st century skills.

How we support
• Every teacher receives a contact person with proven project templates and an own project page, with which his project can serve as a role model. Everything for free.
• We give you impulses for your project work and for the overall development of your school.
• Our materials help you find the right topic, get into action and get everyone on board.
• Our proven project manuals and templates make it easier for you to work on your real-life project.
• Each project gets its own project page and a cool project story print-out.
• Each student can get a project certificate.
• In addition, there are classroom materials, start / finish banner rentals for sponsored walks and more.
• All free of charge – even donated hardware like PCs, laptops, servers etc.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
