About us

Youth Changers Kenya (YCK) is a community-based organization that was established in 2015. YCK seeks to promote sexual and reproductive health (SRH) through advocacy, provision of information and services through referrals, mentorship & leadership training and providing psychosocial support to young people. YCK envisages a community where young people have access to sexual and reproductive health information and services, the SRHR needs and choices of young people are respected.YCK is committed to promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights information for vulnerable groups especially girls from tea plantations and marginalized young people in Kenya.

Mission

of the organization To increase access to Reproductive Health and Sexual Gender-Based Violence information and services through training, policy advocacy and strategic partnerships among young people.

Programmes

Advocacy project: YCK works closely with other organizations to provide inputs in policies and participate in policy reviews so as to address the needs and challenges of young people as they relate to SRHR through participation at County, National, Regional and International processes.

Adolescent Girls and Young Women project: YCK conducts consistent sessions with adolescent girls and young women from tea plantation areas aged 15-24years on HIV awareness, sexual violence, sexually transmitted infections, relationships, and contraceptives. The project uses soccer to share information on sexual health and links young girls to SRHR services.

Mentorship and leadership Project: trains young people on numerous challenges that hinder them from achieving goals and enable them to make informed choices and decisions. YCK seeks to address different challenges that young people face they are: early sexually debut, drugs and substance abuse, media influence, peer pressure, basic life skills, gender, sexual violence, relationships, social inclusion, risks of contraction HIV and AIDS, STI’s, unplanned pregnancy and leadership development.YCK works closely with schools and religious institutions to offer continuous capacity building on the issues highlighted this is done through facilitation, experiential sharing, and focus groups.

Sexual violence project: provides psychosocial support to young girls who have experienced sexual violence. This is done by providing individual & group counseling. YCK also trains human rights champions and key gatekeepers who identify and report cases of abuse.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
