Since 2006, the non-profit association Dortmund Children's Happiness has been working for children and adolescents whose journey into the world has been fraught with difficulties. Our association is based on children's rights, which include essential concepts such as equal opportunities and social participation and helps to implement them. The association was founded by Bernd & Susanne Krispin.

The two-pillar principle:
• Children's Happiness develops, plans and implements its own projects such as the school bag campaign, holiday sponsorships, BVB (football) days or children's happiness pillows for sick children.
• The association also serves as a child welfare network and acts as a contact for youth welfare offices and youth welfare services as well as children's hospitals and children's hospice services. These submit grant applications for the needs of the children and adolescents under their supervision. The close cooperation with social workers, doctors, teachers and offices serves as quality assurance, so that the children and adolescents receive help directly.

Goals and Tasks
• Establishment of the "Children's Relief Network" through direct cooperation with all relevant institutions. These include Youth Welfare Offices, the Child Protection Association, the Clinic for Child and Juvenile Medicine, youth welfare centres and independent agencies for socio-educational family help or intensive care of children and young people.
• Adoption of "holiday sponsorships" - financing and organization of holiday and day camps for socially disadvantaged, neglected and disabled children. Children participate in 2 to 3-week holiday camps. The daytime camps each involve 10 to 20 children and adolescents.
• Financial assistance and benefits in kind - short term in sickness and emergency cases and long term in the planning and organization of aid projects.
• Continuing assistance to children / youth hospice services and special needs schools for severely disabled children and in the case of illness (eg children's hospitals).
• Promotion and support of child and youth facilities (eg playgrounds, kindergartens, child and youth homes).
• Planning and promotion of children and youth projects (eg children's holiday party, youth meetings, Christmas and children's parties).
• Aid projects for children from heavily burdened families (cooperation with youth welfare offices, youth welfare centres, etc.).

Children's Happiness - Aid projects:
• Holiday sponsorships: These enable socially disadvantaged and neglected children to take part in holiday camps. This includes our Mallorca project with the Finca Children's Happiness.
• Schoolbags for socially disadvantaged first graders (annual action)
• new and used bicycles for needy children (regular bicycle actions)
• Children's happiness pillow for sick children
• Funding sports wheelchairs for young disabled athletes
• Taking over treatment costs in special cases
• Purchase of beds for children and adolescents, as well as push chairs and cots
• musical instruments e.g. for children's homes and children's hospice services
• We fulfill wishes (BVB-days, sightseeing flights, instruments, etc.)
