Sobre nosotros

Hope for Relief Organisation Malawi (HfRM), formerly known as Kawaza Youth Organization (KAYO), is a local non-profit organisation led by youth. The organisation works through community outreach, promoting messages related to health and education. The organisation is running a specific programme to keep girls safe in schools, with the overall aim of advancing girls´ education and safeguarding young girls from early marriages.

Our vision is empowered communities in Malawi where vulnerable members such as women, adolescents and children are able to sustain their lives

Our Mission is to create empowered communities which can influence members to ably take part in rural development initiatives through participation.

Our Projects:
Hope for Relief has implemented a number of programmes and projects in the districts of Rumphi and Chitipa.
• Community Based Child Care (CBCC)
• Prevention Of Mother To Child HIV Transmission (PMTCT): The project strives to reduce transmission of HIV from HIV pregnant mothers to unborn babies and infants through provision of inclusive and cohesive community-based PMTCT-driven approaches. The project is raising community awareness on PMTCT, identify community Mother Buddies (MBs) and leaders of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are trained in PMTCT, HIV and AIDs, money saving, and advocacy.
• Keeping Girls Safe In Schools Programme: Goals of the Project: A society where school girls in rural areas have access to adequate locally made for vulnerable girls and improving sanitary facilities in schools; Utilization of community mother groups (Volunteer women working on feminine issues) to help in promoting girls education and equip girls with menstrual hygiene management skills in rural areas of Rumphi District to reduce drop-out rates of school girls
• "Vyatose For Us All" HIV Prevention Project: Education and awareness campaigns on HIV and AIDS prevention, treatment and care in prisons; Voluntary testing and counseling services; Viral load screening of HIV positive prisoners; Nutrition assessment and support for HIV positive prisoners; Follow-up home visits for HIV positive prisoners who were released earlier that their prison sentences to check on their adherence to HIV treatment and reintegration into the community.
• Music Skills Development for Youth Project: With Support from Rock Bujumbura, Hope for Relief Organisation received music instruments for the purpose of spreading the health and education messages for our projects. This is a way of assisting the youths in Rumphi District to identify and nurture their skills in Music. And reducing the risk of youths indulging themselves in risky behaviors like excess alcohol drinking, sex work and using drugs
• Integrating social and financial education in keeping girls in school safe project
