About us

Greencard Mtaani (GCM) is a non-partisan, non-religious, and a non-discriminating social change vessel, registered in 2011 as a Community Based Organization, that aims to nurture, educate, protect and empower children, youths and women through sports and art for social change in Kibera (Kenya).

Mission
We pursue a holistic, educated, healthy, economically independent, safe and environmentally friendly family for socially responsible community.

Objectives:
• Fight crime and abusive drugs: Reach out to youths in the community through soccer clinics/tournaments, mentor ship in school/community clubs, forums and workshops.
• Provide education: Assist the needy and marginalized to access quality education and promote health services by identifying and connecting to the readily available sources and beyond.
• Provide campaign for social activities through awareness and sensitization to create a healthy, safe, child-friendly environment to protect all children´s right.
• Foster promote social development of youth/women through economic empowerment trainings, reproductive health, capacity building, and income generating projects.
• Engage encourage youths in sports and art to build up leadership through mentorship training, soccer programs and advocacy campaigns that promote peace, health, and talent for a better community.

What we do
Education
• Sponsor a child: Sponsor needy kids to access education by paying school fees buying scholastic materials (uniforms, shoes, backpack and also books), food at school and at home in every vacation 3 times a year, medical cover, one week camping and learning Bible classes in December.
• Zelyn Academy: A school to support needy children and families to access quality education by offering education & feeding program, and any school learning materials to all the children.
Youth/Women empowerment:
• Reproductive health, environmental practices, and entrepreneurial training on group savings and also linking them to micro finance institutions for economic empowerment, future ICT and a tailoring class for youth and women
• Teenage mothers education: We believe in education and education has no boundaries nor age, we have teenage mothers education classes whereby we target school drop outs from the age of 14-17 mostly women, as we take them back to school and also take care of their children through the baby care.
Sports for development: Use sports to fight drugs and crime, behaviour change, offer HIV/AIDS training as we nurture talents in our own Greencard FC and other community clubs.
