Qui sommes-nous

MORUS 14 is a non-profit association that has been involved in education, integration and violence prevention in the Rollberg district of Berlin since 2003. In particular, we are very active in promoting the education and social skills of children and adolescents. MORUS 14 is a recognized institution of child and youth welfare.
Our work:

• The association's work is socially-oriented. We develop projects for people in a particular area - here the Rollberg district - and adapt our offers flexibly to the needs of the target group.
• Our work is based on the principle of "lived diversity" and everyday encounters. MORUS 14 thus promotes awareness of any kind of discrimination or exclusion, for example between genders, age or culture, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
• The keys to the success of our education and integration work in the educationally distant neighbourhood are the continuity of the projects and the close, personal relationship between volunteers, families and our members

Projects:
• "Pupils' support - Student Network Rollberg" - This mentoring program offers pupils from the Rollberg district an appropriate level of support from the first grade through to vocational training. We bring them into contact with mentors who help them with school tasks, impart knowledge, promote the development of their social skills, but also give their protégés insights into other areas of society and lifestyles. Approximately 100 pairs meet weekly.
• "Fit and smart - right from the start" - the educational project of MORUS 14, in cooperation with the Rainbow School in the Rollberg district, started with a 1st class in the school year 2016/2017. The children of this class are accompanied by volunteer mentors up to 6th grade. The goal is that basic education deficits do not arise at all and that the children have mastered reading, writing and arithmetic before they move on to secondary school.
• The Early Bird - Weekly preparatory courses in German, English and Maths for Vocational Training (BBR) and Middle School Certificate (MSA) for 9th and 10th grade students from the Rollberg district.
• Shalom Rollberg - friendship and respect in the neighbourhood: With "Shalom Rollberg" we initiate intercultural and interreligious encounters as equals. The project brings together representatives of the Jewish community with young residents of Neukölln, predominantly Muslims. The aim is to promote dialogue, reduce mutual prejudices and achieve peaceful coexistence. Our long-term goal is to create an atmosphere of intercultural normality through our work.

Gilles Duhem is a founding member and Secretary of MORUS 14.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
