About us
The Wild Animal Rescue Foundation of Thailand (WARF) became an officially registered charity in 1992 and today it has become one of Thailand`s leading advocates for nature conservation.
Our Objectives:
• Prevention, education and active campaigns against hunting and cruelty to wild animals.
• Rescue wild animals, especially those which are disabled or maltreated, and help them to spend the rest of their lives in a sanctuary in a natural environment.
• Seek assistance or advice from experts, both local and foreign to train captive wild animals and their offspring to survive in the wild and to train local and foreign people interested in wild animal rescue or conservation to be familiar with this work and encourage them to participate in the projects of the foundation.
• Promote conservation and the balance of nature with ecological systems essential to the survival of wild animals.
• Cooperate and coordinate with the Thai Government agencies or other organizations both local and foreign concerned with the rescue and conservation of wild animals, educate school children about their responsibilities in environmental conservation and preservation, and publicize these activities amongst the general public.
• Conduct activities and cooperate with other charitable organizations for the public benefit.
Projects:
• Gibbon Rehabilitation Project (GRP) in Phuket: The aim of this project is the rehabilitation of gibbons back to their natural habitat .
• Wild Animal Rescue and Education Centre (WARED) in Ranong: WARF`s newest and most ambitious project.
• Sea Turtle and Dugong Conservation Project in Ranong: This project is being established to work towards the conservation and rehabilitation of Andaman sea turtle and Dugong populations in southern Thailand.
• The Wild Animal Rescue Center Lopburi: This Center takes in wild animals, confiscated from the illegal pet and animal trade. Our primary goal is to provide shelter for the animals.
• Forest Fire Protection Project in Chiang Mai
• Wildlife habitat Project, Chiang Mai: WARF are setting up a joint venture in Northern Thailand to undertake an assisted aerial natural forest regeneration project.
• Slow Loris Project, Ranong: WARF is eager to launch a new project to protect and rehabilitate these lovely primates.
• Monkey Feeding Project, Lopburi: The objective of this project is to teach the monkeys when and where to expect food everyday, and to try and minimize the negative effects they have on the community by providing adequate food for the population.
• Andaman Coastline Monitoring: Study of Distribution, Ecology and Population of Endangered Marine Animals and Sea Grasses using Aerial Surveys
• Developing Volunteer Efficiency and Expanding of the Volunteer Network Program
