About us

Global Challenges Network e.V. (GCN) was founded in 1987 by the physicist and bearer of the alternative Nobel prize, Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Dürr. "GCN" faces environmentally friendly challenges and challenges which are reconciliable with a welfare state and sees a necessary precondition for solution-oriented acting in the cooperation of all social groups. Therefore, "GCN" is trying hard to win the science, the economy, the media, citizen's action groups and committed citizens for an interdisciplinary cooperation in selected projects. The "GCN"-members come from different occupations. They offer their subject-specific know-how free of charge. An information brochure on the current work and with further reaching ideas appears twice a year.

Current "GCN"-projects:

- The 1.5 kilowatt-society
By verification of one's own energy consumption and consumer behaviour it is aimed at reducing the energy consumption from 6 kilowatt hours consumption per person and hour at the moment to 1.5 kilowatts.
- Agenda 21: Support of the "Münchener Agenda 21-Prozess", of that "timetable for the next century" which was signed by 170 states in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 during the "conference for environment and development",
- Round table on the topic "work",
- "Tracking" art and ecology.

We can place place subject-specific know-how from different occupations free of charge at the disposal of other net participants and we offer information and collaboration in the above mentioned projects. Klaus Kreuzer offers an overnight accommodation for other net participants in Icking and he can give expert advice on the topic Agenda 21 or give a lecture.
