About us

The association PRO BAHN (in favour of the railway) was founded in Wuppertal in 1981. In the meantime, the association counts about 5,000 members all over Germany. In our function as representatives of the users of public means of transport we see again and again the necessity to request to speak and to stand up for the consumers' concerns and interests.

We point out to omissions, clarify positive initiatives and demand improvements. On all levels, in particular, however, in the approximatively 50 state and regional associations, we are always asked to intercede. The PRO BAHN newspaper has developed to a recognized organ and former of opinions on matters of public traffic. Through this newspaper we also inform the decision-makers on the spot, who are getting more and more important in the course of regional planning, about independent information. We take up definite positions on subjects such as fare increase, nice-weekend-ticket, line closures and negative effects of changes of timetables. PRO BAHN is a member of the European association "Transport & Environment" and stays in contact with passenger associations in foreign countries.

We can give expert advice to other net participants on the subject "public traffic", deliver expert opinions and communicate up-to-date specialist information and arrange for contacts.
