About us

On the outer borders of the EU increasing numbers of people meet their death while seeking a decent life. They flee from the destruction of their livelihoods by wars, natural disasters or unjust economic and trading conditions; they try to escape from violent and discriminatory social relationships in their homelands. The EU Commission is, as are most national governments, still committed to the walls-up policy, organised on military principles, against refugees and migrants, regardless of the thousands of victims involved. Under the leadership of the EU agency “Frontex“ there is a whole army of well-equipped soldiers, police and border guards engaged in preventing people from crossing borders. The true scale of this tragedy is kept quiet by the authorities – European citizens are not supposed to know what is going on at the outer borders of the EU. We want to break this silence.

borderline-europe, Human Rights Without Borders, founded in June 2007, draws attention to the refugee problem on the European borders. borderline-europe counteracts the official cover-up by gathering accurate information in the border regions. The aim is to create public awareness, and thus, based on reliable information, to counter the fatal consequences of the walls-up policy.

borderline-europe is independent of political parties or governments. Our work is an act of civilian resistance to sealing off the EU, with its fatal results.

Our objectives are to publicise comprehensive information, to network European initiatives and to lobby nationally and throughout the EU.

What we do:

• Constant monitoring of the situation on the outer borders of the EU
• Publication of documents on this subject
• Support for initiatives providing humanitarian aid at the borders
• Procurement of spokesmen for the press and organisers
• Building up a European network
