Sobre nosotros

GandhiServe, a charitable foundation registered in Germany, aims to spread the ethics of nonviolence by disseminating information about and popularizing Mahatma Gandhi´s life and works. The purpose of the foundation is the promotion of science, cultural and historical research, and education. The purpose is achieved by:

• Execution and financial support of both academic and non-academic research projects that identify and conserve original documents on and by Mahatma Gandhi.

• Execution and financial support of such educational projects which propagate peace, the ethic of nonviolence, and the memory of Mahatma Gandhi and his teaching.

The GandhiServe Foundation aims to promote the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi, believing firmly that Gandhi´s message of truth, love and nonviolence is still relevant today. Or even more relevant than ever before, considering the ecological catastrophy we are facing, and the increase of different forms of violence in both personal and public life. The ethic of nonviolence, as practised and cultivated by Mahatma Gandhi, live on, regardless of national or political boundries.

Education: The GandhiServe Foundation carries out events and projects on peace and nonviolence in memory of Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings. Using suitable and timely media children, youth and adults shall be inspired to reflect upon the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi´s life and work for today. It is aimed to overcome religious and cultural prejudices, and to help further understanding of one´s own, as well as other cultures.

Research: In co-operation with Gandhi´s family, his associates and contemporaries, we safeguard documents, photographs and films, and make them available for exhibitions, publications, and research. Moreover, Gandhi, his environment and India´s independence movement are documented audio visually by talks with eye witnesses. External works receive support through a research, media and information service. Visit www.gandhimedia.org

Internet: The foundation possesses the largest archive on Gandhi outside India as well as the largest photo archive concerning India´s independence movement in the world. The archives are presented on our web site at www.gandhimedia.org and are made available for personal and scientific use and publications. The network GandhiTopia www.gandhitopia.org provides Gandhian students, scholars, activists and institutions a platform for an exchange and for the upload of news, views, media, events and research on Mahatma Gandhi, peace and nonviolence.
