Tanzania Anti-human Trafficking and Legal Initiatives (TATLI) is a Non-Governmental Organization founded and registered 2022 under the Non-Governmental Organization Act, 2002 as amended in 2005 after witnessed the plight of violence and threats of trafficked survivors’ rights which are not yet recognized and protected in our country; but which are recognized, promoted and protected by international instruments.

Tanzanian Anti- Human Trafficking and Legal Initiatives envisions a society where equity and equality for Trafficking survivors are upheld
Mission
To bring about legal and social transformation by improving the legal systems, social protection and justice of the trafficking survivors in society, bridge the disparities between the legal systems and trafficking survivors in society and ensure the trafficked survivors get their legal redress
Main objective of our organization is to advocate to end human trafficking and FGM, protecting rights of trafficking survivors, protection of human rights, end FGM, GBV, child sexual violence/ abuse and exploitation, providing legal aid and access to justice and involving in strategic litigation.
Areas of work
• Prevention: TATLI conduct trainings to human trafficking stakeholders at all levels such as to the Judge, Magistrates, Prosecutors, Police, Immigration officers, Lawyers, Paralegals, Human Trafficking Monitors and the Politicians/ Members of Parliaments, Human Trafficking Committee Members just to mention a few. TATLI works with schools human trafficking clubs and other youth and use its experience to impart knowledge on fighting human trafficking at national and global level, raising awareness on different forms of human trafficking. Community engagement to raise awareness to the general public on the effects of human trafficking to the community through participation in public forums, workshops, marketplaces, bus stations, hospitals and other public places.
• Prosecution: TATLI as an organization we believe in the use of the rule of law in addressing some of the root cases in human trafficking. Our approach looks kin in using rule of law to combat human trafficking. As an organization we believe in the use of the rule of law in accessing justice for victims of trafficking that is looking at the criminal justice system to address the root cases in human trafficking.
• Protection: Victims’ protection is a main priority of TATLI. Victims of trafficking are often in trauma situation, lacking basic needs of life such as food, shelter, clothes, reproductive health gears and food security and are at risk for re-trafficking. TATLI works with partners and volunteers to identify victims of human trafficking. The victims usually come from severe exploitation from abroad such as Middle East Countries or internally in Tanzania. Victims are supported with basic needs of life such as food, shelter, clothes, reproductive health gears and food security. Also, TATLI provides assistance, which can be counseling, transport, training, economic empowerment programs, school fees, medical assistance, legal aid, rescue, trauma support and psychosocial support.
• Partnership: TATLI believes in using a multidisciplinary and holistic approach in addressing the issue of human trafficking. This can only be done through partnership with different stakeholders to ensure that we have a comprehensive and holistic approach. The organization relies on partnerships to implement all its programs in the community, nationally, regionally and globally. TATLI uses these partnerships to advocate for better policies, Laws and changing bad practices for eradicating human trafficking.
