Sobre nosotros
Bangladesh Street Kids Aid (BSKA) is a nonprofit organization empowering the marginalized children of Bangladesh through skateboarding, education, and wellness programs since 2007.
BSKA provides a wide-range of opportunities and services to street-involved youth. Their approach is unique as uses skateboarding as an outreach tool. Skating is what keeps kids coming back to attend our other programs, being vulnerable together is the main way they get to know each of the individuals and understand their situations.
In addition to the skate programs, BKSA currently operate a transitional home in Dhaka where residents receive 3 meals and 2 snacks daily, counseling with a licensed psycho-social counselor once a week, educational sessions twice daily, and the opportunity to attend skate sessions twice a week.
BSKA is reaching the children who have fallen through the gaps of existing services by connecting with them in a unique way. We let them be kids by offering them opportunities to skate, color, and just plain have fun in a supportive and safe environment.
Our mision
Bangladesh Street Kids Aid is actively and innovatively investing in the future of the vulnerable youth of Bangladesh.
Our vision
We envision a Bangladesh where we no longer have to see a single child living on the streets. We hope to bring sustainable aid to the country through empowering the youth we work with to be self-sufficient and to lead environmentally conscious lifestyles. BSKA built the first public skateboarding park in the country and will continue to advocate for and construct public skateparks to provide marginalized youth their right to play, lead healthy, active lifestyles, and belong to a community.
What we do
• We offer housing, nutrition, informal education on social and environmental justice, health and wellness programs, skateboarding and other recreation, and creative arts programs to the street-based children and youth of Bangladesh.
• BSKA positively engages vulnerable, street-based youth with the sport of skateboarding that is new but growing in the country of Bangladesh and that has many proven physical, mental, and social benefits.
• Through these programs and services that help them develop necessary life skills, BSKA is actively and innovatively investing in the future of these youth who are full of life and potential.
Activities
• Skateboarding Lessons: Skateboarding is more than sport. It is a movement-oriented youth culture and aesthetic cooperative. It creates community and connects people from all backgrounds.
• Education & Drug Awareness: We take care of children with drug problems that fall through the cracks of the renowned organizations. We offer the children both formal and informal education.
• Basic Care & Medical Assistance: We give a loving home to children in need. We empower them to shape their own future. Also, we provide medical care and psychological support.
Campaigns:
• Red Wheel Society: In the Red Wheel Society, we work together to improve living and social conditions of those children in need. The characteristic: one red wheel. Like the red sphere on the flag of Bangladesh, which is representing the rising sun: a symbol of hope. While this is just a motif of solidarity, the whole endeavor will ultimately help children find hope.
• Royal Bengal Skatepark: We created a safe place where kids can learn how to skate and receive lots of care and support.
