Sobre nosotros

African Solidarity for Action - ASFA International e.V. is an NGO based in Hamburg whose members are active across demographic groups and borders. Some of us migrated from The Gambia to Germany a long or short time ago and are now at home in Hamburg. We are therefore very familiar with both the needs of the people in the Senegambia region and the situation of our communities here in Hamburg. This has motivated us both to actively counteract the causes of flight in our home country and to support our communities in Germany, especially through empowerment work with young people.
ASFA International has recognized the importance of community interventions on a small and large scale. We aim to support young Africans both in Germany and in Africa - mainly in the Senegambia region - by mobilizing resources to fund educational, social, economic and cultural projects and programs. Our projects aim to promote development, progress and world peace. In this spirit, we welcome all people who wish to support our projects with financial and material donations.

Our vision
ASFA International believes that investing in young people is always a profitable investment that pays off for a better future. For this reason, we work to create opportunities in education, inclusion, culture, technology, music, media, art, industry, etc. so that children and young people become independent thinkers and entrepreneurs in society. Our work is focused on improving the lives of those who are most disadvantaged.

Our motivation
- We believe that tackling the root causes of displacement requires a complex approach and that we must use all available means to fight poverty and lack of prospects.
- We are passionate about making a positive impact on our communities and the world around us.
- We believe in a life of humanity - for all; and that is what we fight for.
- We bring people together to overcome challenges.

What we do
- Education: We build or operate educational facilities that directly link know-how with practice and production in the sustainable use of marine resources in The Gambia.
- Industry & Entrepreneurship: Economic development and prosperity are ensured by investing in the leaders and technologies of tomorrow. ASFA International nurtures these young minds and provides them with the tools to create the systems needed for today and tomorrow.
- Integration: There are a multitude of opportunities for young migrants in Germany. Through education, training and mentoring, we connect Senegambian youth with German society to create mutual understanding and build bridges of trust and cooperation.
- Culture: Cultures enrich each other through mutual exchange. ASFA International creates spaces for exchange that make it possible to experience diversity in a multicultural environment.
- Health: A healthy person is a happy person. We work with institutions and individuals to provide medicines, medical equipment and medical services in various locations in both The Gambia and Senegal where access to healthcare is inadequate.
- Environment: The environment and climate protection are a matter close to ASFA's heart. We want our planet to provide a livelihood for future generations. That is why we plant fruit trees in The Gambia, which are used by the local population for consumption and sale.

Projects:
- School furniture for The Gambia: We want to use a container ship to ship school furniture and school materials to an elementary school in Gunjur (The Gambia).
Free tutoring and safe space in Altona: The aim is to provide a safe self-learning and empowerment space for Black POCs and new immigrants and to organize cultural activities (short trips, excursions, events, museum visits and leisure activities).
- PaTenT (Plant ten trees): For a small monthly amount, sponsorship can be taken on to plant climate-adapted fruit trees and other trees in The Gambia.
- Tackling the causes of displacement: We want to build a vocational training center in The Gambia to give young people training prospects locally.
