The Transition Town Initiative Lippe im Wandel was founded in 2014 and has since helped launch projects such as the Repair Café Detmold, the DELA (Detmold cargo bike), DELEILA (Detmold loan store) and other projects. Since 2017, the initiative has also been a registered non-profit association, which was funded from 2018 to the end of 2019 with the “Short Paths for Climate Protection” grant as part of the national climate protection initiative. From 2020 to the end of 2021, we received funding from the NRW Environment & Development Foundation. The aim of the association was to provide information on sustainable topics, initiate and/or support projects and collaborate with regional stakeholders. From 2022 to 2024, our new focus was: Facing climate change together and constructively - developing resilient lifestyles and responding to climate impacts. The next funding project ran from 2024 to March 2025: Hermanns 17, which offered exciting workshops on the global goals of sustainability for school classes and extracurricular groups. At the end of the project, a comic book was created from the impressions of the workshops and one hero or heroine per SDG. These projects were also funded by the NRW Environment & Development Foundation.

Lippe im Wandel opened the WANDEL-WERKSTATT at Friedrichstraße 15 in Detmold at the beginning of 2018 as part of the approved funding for the “Short distances for climate protection” project. In 2023, the WANDELWERKSTATT was further developed into the Zukunftsraum Nachhaltigkeit in cooperation with other stakeholders in the sustainability area as well as the city of Detmold and the district of Lippe. This will strengthen networking within the sustainability community and make the centrally located venue available for further events.

Project:
- Wandel-Werkstatt: The Wandel-Werkstatt is a contact point for interested parties, a venue for events and an ideas workshop all in one. Lectures, parties, workshops and much more take place here. Other groups, such as citizens' initiatives or working groups, also meet here. The Wandel-Werkstatt also houses a lending library (“Wandelbücherei”), a swap shelf, a seed exchange box and the Wandel-Werkstatt is also a station for the Detmold food sharing group.
- Project “Hermanns 17”: Exciting workshops on the global goals of sustainability for school classes and extracurricular groups
- Deleila - Detmolder Leihladen: Loan store next to the Wandel workshop. Borrow instead of buy! Whether tools, gardening equipment or kitchen utensils, there are many things we rarely need. In our loan store, you can borrow such things for free instead of buying them for a lot of money. This saves resources, money and space in your home.

On request, we can give advice to other net participants, give a presentation, provide up-to-date specialist information and contacts in the field of our work.
