About us
Warsan Relief and Development Association (WAREDA) is a trusted Somali-based non-profit organization with extensive experience in humanitarian and development work, particularly in health, nutrition, Education and community support in areas with urgent needs. WAREDA was established in January 2016.
WAREDA operates in the south central of Somalia, with the aim of improving the lives and health of local communities, especially vulnerable populations.
Our vision
WAREDA´s vision is to realize that its targeted beneficiaries live in prosperity and dignity.
Our mission
To improve, enhance and positively transform the social and economic structures that sabotaged poverty and violence of the target communities.
WAREDA´s main objectives
• Participate in humanitarian relief and response to emergencies and disasters to facilitate partner´s access to reach vulnerable and affected communities.
• Facilitate increased awareness and respect for gender equality. To improve protection and rights among vulnerable people including IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) and refugees.
• To increase access to public health care among vulnerable poor households in both rural and urban areas of Somalia. To promote sustainable and low-cost WASH interventions in rural and urban settlements.
• To promote sustainable agricultural/livestock production technologies, ensuring improved food security and reducing food aid dependency levels in Somalia.
• To increase access to education at all levels including skills and vocational training.
• To promote good governance and gender equity with special focus on women/girls.
• Empowerment and elimination of all forms of violence against women including FGM, rape, domestic violence, etc.

Activities:
• WAREDA focuses on improving water, sanitation, and hygiene to enhance the well-being of vulnerable communities.
• Providing access to clean and safe water.
• Developing sustainable sanitation infrastructure.
• Raising awareness on hygiene practices within communities.
• Preventing diseases related to poor sanitation and unsafe water sources.
• WAREDA remains dedicated to working hand in hand with local authorities and community members to strengthen local initiatives, improve access to essential services, and uplift the lives of those in the region. Together, we are forging a path toward a more resilient and prosperous future for Afgoye and the broader Lower Shabelle area.
