About us
The Forum for Intercultural Dialogue (FIDeV) is a nonprofit organization that has been committed to fostering sustainable intercultural and interreligious dialogue since its founding in 2002.
Our goal is to promote peaceful coexistence in Germany by bringing together people with different beliefs through discussion groups, workshops, conferences, and a variety of cultural events. The Forum primarily addresses current social and political issues.
The association aims to motivate people—especially those with a migration background—to participate in social life and seeks to proactively counteract prejudice and intolerance.
In accordance with these principles, the association supports the further development of education, public and vocational training, as well as the promotion of awareness of shared values and common challenges. To this end, the association promotes intercultural and interreligious understanding. It helps break down prejudices against different cultures and religions. It promotes and supports all efforts that serve mutual understanding among peoples, an international outlook, tolerance in all areas of culture, and peaceful coexistence. It provides assistance to individuals, associations, schools, and educational institutions on issues related to interculturality and interreligious dialogue. The association collaborates with German and European institutions to contribute to intercultural and interreligious dialogue in Europe.
Projects:
• My Culture – Films as a Bridge Between Cultures: The goal of the project is to use films as a starting point for personal exchange and intercultural encounters.
• People of Frankfurt is a series of film portraits about people who help shape life in Frankfurt in various ways. In ten short episodes, the project showcases everyday stories, perspectives, and commitments that often remain unseen. It is produced in cooperation with the Office for Multicultural Affairs and the Media Education Center South.
• The German Dialogue Prize is organized by the Federation of German Dialogue Institutions (BDDI) together with its member associations, including the Forum for Intercultural Dialogue e.V. This award honors individuals and institutions that are particularly committed to the diversity of our society and that sustainably promote intercultural exchange through outstanding contributions to dialogue.
• The Dialogue Academies of the Federation of German Dialogue Institutions (BDDI) are held annually on selected topics for members of partner organizations nationwide. The primary goal of these events is professional development and skills training. Each year, socially relevant topics are selected and organized with particular care.
• Through the workshop series “Between Worlds: Traditional Art and Modernity,” the Forum for Intercultural Dialogue e.V. introduces children and young people aged 8 to 16 to Ebru painting and calligraphy. At multiple locations, traditional art forms are taught and, at the same time, brought to life as expressions of identity, heritage, and creativity. The series culminates in a public opening reception that showcases the participants’ works and creates space for exchange and appreciation.
• The FRIEDE project (Training – Religion – Intercultural – Empowerment – Dialogue – Engagement) is a training program for young adults with Jewish, Christian, and Muslim backgrounds. The goal is to promote interreligious competencies and empower participants to design their own dialogue formats. Over the course of seven sessions, participants learn the fundamentals of interreligious dialogue, reflect on their own religious identity, and gain practical experience. The training helps build a network of interreligious multipliers that strengthens social cohesion.
• The youth forum “Voices of the Future” brings together young people with migration or refugee backgrounds to promote integration and personal development through dialogue and workshops. In a safe environment, participants strengthen their intercultural skills and self-confidence. A concluding panel discussion with inspiring figures aims to motivate and provide guidance.
• The Noah’s Ark Festival is a celebration of diversity that brings together people from different cultures and religions. Under the motto “All in the Same Boat,” it invites people to celebrate intercultural and interfaith coexistence, appreciate differences, and discover common ground.
• Meet and Read: Eating, reading, and talking together
• Christian-Muslim Summer School
• Ramadantogether: Ramadan is much more than just fasting; it is a time of connection, spirituality, and community. With Ramadantogether, we highlight this significance and create spaces for breaking the fast together (iftar).
• Guidance Through Encounter: Fit for Life – Mentorship Program
