The centre’s main aim is to offer space, services and resources, including educational programs, vocational training, health services, and opportunities for economic advancement to vulnerable women and their children.
The goal is to foster self-sufficiency, leadership skills, and overall well-being for women, ultimately contributing to stronger communities and a more equitable society.

• Economic Empowerment: Supporting women in starting or growing their own businesses through access to microfinance, business training, and market linkages.

• Community Building: Creating a safe and supportive environment where women can connect with each other, build networks, and advocate for their well-being.
The Kyampisi Women Empowerment Resource Centre (KWERC) is a community-resource centre under construction at the land donated by Ssamba Foundation with an aim to improve the social and economic standing of vulnerable women and children in Mukono district. It operates kitchen gardening projects to help women establish home-based gardens, improving family nutrition and providing an additional source of income.
How KWERC implements the project:
• Training and education: We train women on how to establish and maintain kitchen gardens, often using low-cost and sustainable methods.
• Community involvement: The initiative encourages community participation, with selected members trained to become community trainers to ensure knowledge is shared and the gardens are maintained.
• Resource provision: Our organization provides necessary materials, such as seeds and tools, to help women set up their gardens.
• Focus on family and community: While centered on women, kitchen gardens often involve the entire family, promoting coexistence and shared responsibility for nurturing the plants.
• Kyampisi Women Empowerment Resource Centre supports kitchen gardening projects to empower unskilled women and provide income for poor families.
• Our centre has implemented a project in Namanganga village to improve nutrition for women and children through kitchen gardens.
• We also work with women in sorrounding communities (56 villages of Kyampisi Subclunty) to establish home-based gardens, leading to increased income and food security.
