Sheyaw Organization, established in 2019, is a cooperative non-governmental, non-religious and non-profit organization. and works and focus on developing a society including youth as a main power and empower vulnerable people, including children, women, and persons with disabilities , to enjoy the principles of human rights, civil society, democracy, equality, good and inclusive governance, and embraces a non-violent culture.

Mission
Sheyaw Organization is dedicated to fostering inclusivity, equal opportunities, and enhancing employment opportunities for both persons with disabilities and youth by empowering them in Iraq.

Goals
• Employment Empowerment: Promote and expand employment, livelihood and skills-development opportunities, with particular attention to persons with disabilities, youth and other vulnerable groups.
• Cooperation and Coordination: Promote effective cooperation and coordination among civil society organizations, Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), government institutions, international organizations and other relevant stakeholders.
• Capacity Building of Civil Society and OPDs: Strengthen the organizational, institutional and technical capacities of NGOs, particularly Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), enabling them to effectively represent their communities, deliver quality programs and advocate for their rights.
• Inclusion and Meaningful Participation: Promote the full and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities, youth, women and other vulnerable groups in social, economic, educational and community life, as well as in decisions that affect them.
• Collaboration with Authorities: Strengthen constructive collaboration and dialogue with government authorities and relevant institutions to promote inclusive policies, services and practices and to address barriers faced by vulnerable and marginalized groups.
• Promotion and Protection of Human Rights: Promote and protect human rights, equality, dignity, non-discrimination and equal opportunities, with particular attention to the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.

Our activities:
• Inclusive Youth Disability Sports: With the support of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), Sheyaw Organization implemented a one-month football activity for youth with disabilities in Duhok Governorate. The initiative supported the participation of young persons with disabilities in sports and community activities and promoted inclusion, teamwork and social interaction. As part of the activity, Sheyaw provided participating football teams with sports equipment and supported their participation in organized football activities through the Media Sport Club in Duhok. The initiative demonstrated Sheyaw's commitment to using inclusive sports as a tool for social participation, empowerment and community integration, while creating opportunities for youth with disabilities to participate actively in community life.
• Supporting the Development of a National Strategy for Persons with Disabilities: Sheyaw Organization has contributed to discussions and initiatives aimed at strengthening disability policy and developing a national strategy for persons with disabilities in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. With the support of Lutheran World Federation (LWF), Sheyaw organized a one-day workshop in Erbil bringing together representatives of international organizations to discuss the importance of developing a coordinated national strategy for persons with disabilities. The workshop provided an opportunity for stakeholders to exchange views, identify key challenges and discuss priorities for strengthening disability inclusion and the rights of persons with disabilities.
• National Strategy Workshop on Disability Inclusion: Sheyaw Organization also organized a dedicated one-day workshop on the development of a national strategy for persons with disabilities in Iraq and Kurdistan. The activity aimed to facilitate dialogue among relevant stakeholders regarding the situation of persons with disabilities and the need for stronger policies, coordination and institutional responses. The workshop provided a platform to discuss key priorities and encourage greater attention to disability rights and inclusion within national and regional development processes.Through this work, Sheyaw has sought to contribute to policy dialogue, stakeholder coordination and advocacy for more inclusive disability policies.
• Disability Awareness-Raising and Stakeholder Engagement: In cooperation with Handicap International, Sheyaw Organization organized a two-day awareness-raising workshop addressing the challenges faced by persons with disabilities. The workshop brought together a diverse range of stakeholders, including government officials, international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and national/local NGOs. Participants discussed the barriers and challenges experienced by persons with disabilities and explored the importance of improving inclusion, participation and support mechanisms. The activity strengthened dialogue among government and civil society actors and provided an opportunity to increase awareness of disability-related issues and promote a more coordinated response to the needs and rights of persons with disabilities.
• Supporting Families of Children with Autism: In partnership with the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), Sheyaw Organization organized a workshop for parents of children with autism. The workshop focused on practical issues related to communication, interaction and social integration, providing parents with an opportunity to discuss challenges and exchange experiences related to supporting their children. The activity recognized the important role of families in supporting children with autism and promoted greater understanding of communication and interaction needs, as well as the importance of creating an inclusive environment that enables children with autism to participate meaningfully in society.
• Development of an Accessible Audio Book Platform: In partnership with SV, Sheyaw Organization developed an accessible audio book platform designed to improve access to educational and informational resources for persons with visual impairments. The platform provides access to a diverse collection of audio-based materials covering different areas of interest, including social topics, stories and literature, legal information, educational materials and other relevant publications. By converting and making written content available in accessible audio formats, the initiative aims to reduce barriers that people with visual impairments may face when accessing books and other learning resources. The platform provides persons with visual impairments with greater opportunities to access information, continue learning, develop knowledge and participate more independently in educational and social life. It also contributes to promoting equal access to information and education and demonstrates Sheyaw Organization's commitment to using technology and digital solutions to advance disability inclusion and accessibility.
