Über uns
The Centre for Rural Prosperity and Development (CRPD) is a Community Service Organization (CSO) established in January 2008 to address the unique needs and challenges of minority and marginalized communities in rural Somalia.
CRPD is dedicated to implementing effective and sustainable humanitarian interventions that empower and uplift these underserved populations. Through collaborative partnerships with local stakeholders, government agencies, and international partners, we strive to bridge the development gap and foster inclusive, equitable progress for all community members, regardless of their background or social status.
Mission
To empower marginalized and minority rural communities in Somalia by providing them with the necessary tools, resources, and support to achieve self-sufficiency, economic growth, social well-being, and environmental sustainability.
Vision
To create thriving, equitable rural communities in Somalia where individuals from minority and marginalized groups have equal access to opportunities, resources, and sustainable development, leading to long-term prosperity and an improved quality of life for all.
Programs:
• Food Security and Livelihood: CRPD food assistance’s focus is to prevent loss of life and to contribute to the rehabilitation of local food and market systems (including agriculture). We promote livelihood strategies that protect, recover, and strengthen individuals’ and households’ abilities to earn a living. To prevent repeated displacement, we support engagement in social and economic opportunities that reinforce the adaptive capacity of systems, individuals, families, and communities affected by displacement.
• Health and Well-being: We prioritize the physical and mental well-being of individuals in marginalized communities. Our initiatives encompass healthcare access, mental health support, nutrition programs, and awareness campaigns on preventive healthcare practices. We also collaborate with healthcare providers and organizations to improve healthcare services in underserved areas.
• Water Sanitation and Hygiene: Access to clean and safe water is essential for drinking, cooking, personal hygiene, and sanitation. CRPD focuses on ensuring a sustainable supply of safe water, often through the construction or rehabilitation of water sources, such as wells, boreholes, or piped systems.
• Education and Skill Development: We provide educational opportunities and skill-building programs to individuals from marginalized backgrounds. Our initiatives include adult literacy programs, vocational training, entrepreneurship workshops, and mentoring programs to equip individuals with the necessary skills for personal and professional growth.
• Shelter and Settlement: The CRPD focuses on providing emergency shelter, improving living conditions in camps and settlements, and supporting the construction and maintenance of essential infrastructure.
• Community Development: We work closely with communities to identify their needs and co-create sustainable solutions. Our programs focus on enhancing community infrastructure, promoting civic engagement, and fostering social cohesion through various initiatives such as community gardens, local development projects, and neighborhood revitalization efforts.
• Advocacy for Policy Reform: We advocate for the rights and interests of marginalized communities by engaging in policy research, lobbying, and awareness campaigns. Through strategic partnerships, we collaborate with stakeholders at local, national, and international levels to influence policies and promote systemic changes that advance social inclusion and empowerment.
• Protection (Including CP and GBV): Provide specialized protection assistance, and community-based support, to vulnerable conflict-affected individuals, thereby enabling them to secure their rights, access humanitarian assistance and public services, and overcome barriers to the achievement of durable solutions.
• Youth Development: We focus on engaging and empowering young people from marginalized backgrounds. Our youth development programs provide mentorship, life skills training, leadership development, and opportunities for civic engagement. We aim to equip youth with the tools and resources they need to become active and empowered agents of change.
• Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment: We strive for gender equality and women’s empowerment through initiatives that address gender-based violence, promote women’s rights, and provide support services to survivors. We work to challenge gender norms, increase access to education and economic opportunities, and empower women to become leaders in their communities.
