Über uns

Widows and Single Mothers Development Organization-WISIMODO is a Feminist, Non-Government Community Based Organization (CBO) that was established in June 2021. WISIMODO envisions a society where marginalized widows, single mothers, Orphans and other children (OVCs) become fully empowered and attain their right to social justice, protection, development and participation.
It works to initiate programs that help widows, single mothers, Orphans and other vulnerable Children (OVCs) live fulfilled lives by empowering them socially, economically, emotionally and spiritually, through innovative self-help initiatives and establishment of productive and reliable networks and support structures. WISIMODO operates in Mityana, district, Central Uganda.

Vision:
A society where marginalized widows, single mothers and their children (especially orphans) become socially and economically empowered and attain their right to social justice and participation.

Mission:
To initiate innovative programs that strengthen the capacity of widows, single mothers and their children especially orphans, live fulfilled lives by empowering them socially, economically, emotionally and spiritually, through the establishment of productive and reliable networks and support structures.

Our Strategic Objectives:
• To improve access to social justice for widows and single mothers in and around Mityana district of Uganda.
• To improve the livelihood status of vulnerable widows and single mothers including those living with disability and HIV/AIDS through innovative self-help projects, financial literacy and life skills with an aim of attaining good health, education for their children (especially OVCs), in and around Mityana district.
• To mediate on behalf of disadvantaged widows, single mothers and Orphans and other vulnerable Children (OVCs) on civil/human rights and social deprivation.
• To provide a platform of linkage to health, educational, social and economic improvement opportunities through partnerships with likeminded institutions and programs.
• To conduct civic education on HIV/AIDS, human rights, gender, democracy and good governance among the general population.
• To promote and improve the education of OVCs.
• To provide support, care and refer people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
• To promote positive youth, women and child development through counseling, life skills leadership and entrepreneurship development.
• To enhance access and utilization of quality Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and HIV/AIDS services.
• To protect and safeguard all children against child abuse and trafficking.

Activities of the Organization
• Training for widows and single mothers in entrepreneurial skills, agri-business and other viable economic skills.
• Empowerment talks and conferences on women’s rights, current economic policies, value of their participation in economic and social activities, (Training widows to know their rights and champion them)
• Setup and support widow rights groups all over the district especially in communities where widows and single mothers’ rights are violated.
• Develop and implement a strategy for creating local, national and international level awareness
• Take orphans and affected widows children to school
• Craft making
• Poultry farming and animal husbandry
• Fundraising
• Distribution of clothes and food
• Distribution of school materials
• WISIMODO poultry and piggery project
• Poultry Feed Mill
• Village, Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs)

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
