AAMIN was established in Somalia 2006 by Somali professionals to address the most important sectors for the livelihood of the Somali community including Food, Health, Education and Water and Youth Livelihood programs as wellt o enable them to seek and to secure sustainable jobs and employment that has equitable access to all opportunities.
Vision
A sustainable, responsible, capable and committed professional organization that envision Somali Community free from illiteracy, poverty, poor hygiene and sanitation and be ready to respond to emergencies e¬ffectively and effciently.
Mission
AAMIN is engaged in life-saving activities and improving the livelihoods of members of the Somali community, restoration of social trust and brotherhood in collaboration of key stakeholders; provision of free ambulance services, safe and clean water, raising awareness on community issues, promoting income generation activities, education and capacity building for community participation in development.
Main areas of intervention
• Health (Ambulance Service and Primary Health Care)
• Nutrition (SFP, OTP and School Feeding Centers)
• Education and Vocational skills Training (Youth Livelihoods Programs)
• Shelter Improvement and Management
• Agriculture and Livelihoods
• Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH) and Solid Waste Management.
Objectives:
• To build the capacity of AAMIN staff, community and equip them with necessary skills, knowledge and commitment to e¬ectively and e ciently respond to emergency services.
• To provide free pre-hospital medical care service (Maternity Waiting Homes and Ambulance Service).
• To improve youth participation in normal by creating job opportunities and enhancing their level of skills.
• To ensure sustainable food security and income generation through improved crop production, infrastructure rehabilitation, cash-based livelihood interventions, improved markets and market chain linking.
• To improve access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities and facilitate acceptable standards of humanitarian services for displaced persons and refugees.
• To establish emergency rescue services, promote community peace, psycho-support centre, develop medical support infrastructure, promote the integration of vulnerable members of the community, build capacity and create sanitation awareness and promote activities that reduce the impact of draught.
Projects:
• Enhance the livelihood condition of 130 small scale entrepreneurs through management skills and start up kits
• Youth for Change Training, Social rehabilitation and integration: Social rehabilitation and skills developing training for 65 youth at risk.
• Provision of Ambulance Service for Health Facilities in IDP camps in Mogadishu
• Youth Skills Training, Sustainable Job Opportunity and Placement: Skills developing training
