About us

The Women, Children and Development Initiative (IFED) is a non profit-making organisation aiming to improve the quality of life of Congolese women and children and the well-being of all Congolese people. They hope to achieve this by the application of international standards of human rights, by research and the granting of legal protection, as well as by an improvement in women´s and children´s qualifications by means of information, education and training.

IFED operates in the Northern and the South Kivu provinces. Our work is characterized by tranparency, individual and collective responsibility and a sense of justice and solidarity with women and children living on the margins of society.

The Women, Children and Development Initiative was founded in May 2001 by six people from various social groups. They were concerned about the worsening situation of women and children in the province of South Kivu and in the Democratic Republic of Congo: Mr. Edouard Kabazimya (teacher and human rights activist), Ms. Jeannette Asha Muloba (nurse and midwife), Ms. Lwesso Devota (lawyer) und Ms. Jeannette Kabisuba (nurse). The Women, Children and Development Initiative is registered with the Ministry of Justice.

On request, I can compile a report for other net participants, impart specialist knowledge, or provide contacts in the area of research, the judicial system, education, training and TIC.
