About us

Center Shama is a civil non-profit making association with no self interest, founded in 1999, inscribed in "Juridical People" in the Public Registrations of Lima with the purpose of working with street children. The responsibility that we have on behalf of God is to rescue the people in the streets that are in greatest need - especially children and adolescents. The purpose is to restore and to reintegrate the street boys to society; to enable them to leave the streets - if possible to bring them back to their own homes - to give them a new home and to help them to change, so that they can be good men and women. We have approx. 60 people.

Projects:

- Construction Campaign for the Refuge House: The priority of the refuge house (second work stage), will be the adaptation of the kids to an atmosphere different from the street. In the refuge house we will help the boys to adapt to life in a home. It is there where they will receive a deep spiritual, emotional and in some cases also physical treatment, so that they can give up the bad habits that enslaved them and be able to live in the home of Center Shama or be welcomed into a Christian family.
- Beginning of the Training School: Center Shama carried out formation works, and the training of 160 educators. We also have a radial program, in a local radio station. At the present time we have the Training School for children at risk "From the Streets to the Light" that has already prepared 70 people for the challenge in this ministry.
- New Working Areas: In the development of the first stage of work, "Motivation", the educators are gathered in 4 groups and go onto the streets of Lima and Callao to look for children that are living there.

The Executive Director is Frances Julia Davinson Rodriguez, Peruvian. She studied in the National University of Engineering, and also in the Biblical Seminary Alliance of Peru, Pastoral Teología.

For other net participants we can offer overnight facilities. Also we can procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
