Blossom Trust was established in 1993 as a grassroots NGO with an initial focus on social empowerment of underprivileged women and security for vulnerable children living in Virudhunagar. We have since grown into a rights based, women-led organisation for the empowerment of women and development of communities across Tamil Nadu, India.

Our goal has always been to create sustainable change for disadvantaged or marginalised communities.

Our vision is to place women at the heart of community development; establishing thriving, equitable and empowered communities across Tamil Nadu.

Our mission is to promote women-led development and create resilient communities through collective networks, advocacy and awareness-raising.

Our strategy
Blossom Trust serves its community by forming women-led community-based groups to strengthen the community in response to current needs, emerging challenges, and climate change.
• Community Organising: We believe we can create strong, sustainable and resilient growth; for the community, by the community.
• Education & Advocacy: We empower individuals through social advocacy and personal skill development
• Sustainable Livelihoods: We promote socio-economic development of women through income generating activities and micro-business models

What we do
• Health Empowerment & Patient Networks: Stop TB Partnership CC-TATA Project; Project Artemisia
• Women's Rights & Inclusive Welfare: IDEAL for Women & Children (CSR) - Blossom, together with an India-based company, aims to create two Model Villages that will become hallmarks for women and children’s empowerment by providing women and children with the tools, skills and knowledge to bring about positive change in their personal lives as well as in their communities; Transgender Women ACT Network; Crèche; Tamil Nadu Women's Development Corporation
• Environment & Sustainability: Rural Female Farmer Producer Company; Dayspring Organic Farm; Sustainable Plant Project; Solid Waste Management Programme
• Dayspring Home: In 2004 Blossom Trust established Dayspring Home for children in Chittoor, a rural area outside of Virudhunagar. Dayspring provides safe, stable and nurturing environment and opportunities for vulnerable groups of children. Dayspring Home is now a permanent and well established project of the organisation, providing constant care and support to children.
• Community Based Organisations: At Blossom, we envision women at the heart of community development; establishing community-based organisations and networks primarily women-led, we promote collective action and collaboration at the forefront of our interventions.

Mercy Annapoorani is the Executive Director of Blossom Trust.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
We are always open to share our insights and expertise, providing unique insights into the specific situations and contexts that we work in. Additionally, we are willing to collaborate on projects with fellow partners to further shared goals. Partnerships with organisations that have aligned visions and goals with Blossom Trust helps to build upon both of our strengths.
