Über uns

Chilanga Riding School for the Disabled (CRSD), founded in 2002, is a non-profit organisation which offers horse riding as a proven means of therapy to improve the quality of life for mentally and physically disabled children from disadvantaged homes.

Our vision is to provide the disadvantaged and the physically disabled with regular access to horses and horse riding lessons, so that they may grow and their lives be enriched.

The many documented long term benefits that the disabled gain from horse riding include:
• Improved motor development
• Enhanced concentration and reduced hyperactivity
• Decreased mental rigidity
• Language development

The over 200 children that come to Chilanga weekly are proof of her dedication to all riders. These special needs riders are taught free of charge as many of them come from disadvantaged homes. The children have daily lessons at Chilanga. The school is based in Somerset West.

Our greatest challenges include managing the day-to-day operational expenses so that we can
• continue to provide access to those who would otherwise not be afforded the opportunity, and
• grow our operation such that we may reach more and more children with hope and positivity.

Jennifer Coetzee is the Secretary of the Chilanga Riding School for the Disabled (CRSD).
