Qui sommes-nous

Zero2Five, formerly Futurelife Foundation, is a Durban based NPO with a mission is to promote holistic Early Childhood development in disadvantaged areas by improving the learners' health and education outcomes through nutrition and education programmes.

Paul Saad, Founder of FUTURELIFE Foundation, officially established the FUTURELIFE Foundation Trust in October 2014. The FUTURELIFE Foundation Trust was established as a non-for-profit organisation registered as a public benefit organization.

Our mission is to promote holistic Early Childhood Development in formerly disadvantaged areas by improving learners’ health and education outcomes with nutrition and education programmes. We help children reach their developmental milestones in their formative years for them to reach their full potential and to have a safe and prosperous future life.

The Zero2Five Trust provides nutritional and educational support to children attending an excess of 400 unsubsidised and under-resourced Early Childhood Development Centres (ECDs) in vulnerable, mostly rural communities in KZN and the Eastern Cape. Zero2Five also offers practical support to the centres with registration work with the Department of Social Development (DSD) and subsidy applications. In addition, capacity building of the ECD practitioners is done through training and education.

We help children:
To grow: Our nutrition programmes are currently serving around 200 000 bowls of nutritious porridge a month to needy children in South Africa. We believe that nourishing these young, growing minds is one of the most urgent needs in our poor communities.
To learn: We also supply these ECD Centres and Primary Schools with recycled furniture, stationary and mobile libraries to address the vast literacy problem in our country. Books are supplied in English and all African languages. We believe that READERS are LEADERS.
To play: The Early Childhood Development Centres, Orphanages and Primary Schools we support receive a wooden playground, soccer balls and goals to ensure the children get an opportunity to play, explore, balance and grow their muscles.

Projects:
Early Childhood Nutrition and Play Programme: Zero2Five, formerly Futurelife Foundation, provides over 100 unfunded and under-resourced Early Childhood Development Centres in marginalized communities with highly nutritious, daily Futurelife meals, recycled furniture, playgrounds, mobile libraries and stationery. We also assist the ECD practitioners in facilitating necessary changes required in order to register with the Department of Social Development by introducing them to the Bhalisa Inkhulisa application pack by NGO Ilifa Labantwana. This pack contains all the information and guidance on the required documentation that ECD centres need when applying for partial care registration. It guides applicants through filling in forms, as well as collecting supporting documentation. Most of these centres are situated in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Through our partnership with City Hope Disaster Relief, we also reach destitute children outside of South Africa.

Julika Falconer is the CEO of the Zero2Five.
