About us

SEED is the acronym of "Social Equality for Effective Development". It is a non-political, non-profitable, and secular and non-government female headed development organization. It was established on 3rd January, 2001 by the active initiative of female social workers, educationists and philanthropists to develop an appropriate alternative development approach and working strategy for the development of the poor and the marginalized, discriminated and stigmatized women of minority communities like fishermen, tribal, sweeper, potter and other ethnic marginalized women’s groups.
Since its inception the organization focuses on establishing the rights and empowerment of the backward and disadvantaged women of the society.
SEED is a female headed organization and among the staff and project participants there exist gender balance in all stages.

The main focus of SEED would be to empower distressed, marginalized, powerless and vulnerable people with special focus to the development of women, adolescent and children living in disaster prone areas and plain land through understanding need based initiatives including climate change considering gender mainstreaming, community led & participation of all level stakeholders, sustainability, self reliance, create access to local/natural resources and activate them in establishing their due rights in the society.
