Strive Foundation Rwanda (SFR) is a local non–governmental, non-religious, non-political and non-profit making organization that was founded in 2003 with a goal of promoting social and economic welfare of the vulnerable communities. SFR was founded to fight for social justice and equitable development in four key programmatic areas: Health, Education, Women and Youth empowerment and cross cutting programs of Inclusiveness, Environment and Gender. Strive Foundation Rwanda head office is located in Kigali city, Gasabo district, Ndera sector, Masoro cell, Matwari village, KG 11 Street, Zindiro-Azam road.

Objectives:

What we do
• Nutrition program: Key aims are to provide training to parents and CHH on the importance of nutrition and hygiene within the household, to promote and introduce kitchen gardens amongst CHH, to encourage links between ECD centers and community health centers for systematic growth monitoring of young children and to provide one cow per ECD.
• Reproductive Health: SFR initiated an awareness raising and mobilization on ASRHR among students through school club initiatives.
• HIV/AIDS program to improve the economic situations and livelihoods of vulnerable people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS through income generating activities support, skills and business management training.
• Community based health insurance promoting and expanding access to health services at a community level as a basis for improto ved health outcomes
• Early Childhood Development Program delivers quality stimulation, psycho-social support, literacy and numeracy for young children, facilitating their transition to primary school. This not only enhances the cognitive development of children, but also increases awareness of health and nutrition issues amongst parents whilst establishing a social and emotional support network for young Rwandan children.
• OVCs program provides ongoing support for the welfare of OVCs in Rwanda. This involves provision of school materials, school uniforms, school fees, medical insurance, nutritional training, psychosocial care and assistance in crops production. I
• Vocational Training program involves provision of theory and practical vocational training in painting, forge-welding, bakery, tiling and plumbing to out-of-school and vulnerable youths. It also involves catch-up and refresher basic education in Mathematics, English and Kinyarwanda. Finally, it involves work readiness training, internship placement, and skilled-youth cooperative formation.
• Women’s Economic Empowerment Program: We advance the lives of vulnerable women through improving access to equal economic opportunity.
• Environmental Protection Program- Art for Development: SFR encourages such women and girls to form cooperatives. Within these cooperatives, the women produce different art and craft items and ornaments recycling old materials.
• Fighting gender-based violence through community awareness campaigns and economically empowering vulnerable women through cooperative formation, IGA facilitation, and help in accessing financial institutions.
• Inclusiveness: SFR developed a home-based messaging approach, which helps parents with children with disabilities to increase their knowledge about their children and how to care about them. Vulnerable children with the disability of Albinism in Huye District have been offered basic support in treating their skin complications using specialized jelly and outfits, which are protective to their skin. Vulnerable Children with physical disabilities have also received key support of wheelchairs and Huye District received the support in January 2022 but still more chairs are required.
