About us

Aelius Förderwerk is a non-profit association founded in 2017, whose work is carried out by a team of volunteers. With Aelius, we are setting up the first nationwide student scholarship program in Germany, that encourages children of all types of schools and backgrounds to shape their lives and education independently, regardless of their social background.

Our goal is to anchor such a student scholarship institutionally in Germany. We believe in a future in which young people's educational opportunities are not determined by social and financial circumstances.

Our mission
With our funding program, we want to create perspectives for young people, provide incentives, give inspiration and stand by them as supporters.

Our vision
A society with equal opportunities for everyone – especially in the education system.

Projects:
• DIALOG OPPORTUNITIES - The mentoring program: For Aelius, mentoring means that an older person (mentor) accompanies a younger person (mentee) on their way until they graduate and offers support, advice, access to networks and information. Mentor:in and mentee together form a mentoring tandem.
• Counselling service: if you have any questions about school, job applications, training, financing your studies or your stays abroad, what helps above all is the exchange with people who have already been in the same position; someone who, based on their experience, can help and motivate in a goal-oriented manner. This someone will make our consulting services available to you free of charge
• Workshops: The Förderwerk organizes a variety of workshops every year - publicly advertised workshops, but also workshops offered for schools, institutions and youth work organisations; for example: sustainability workshop, visit to the DNA laboratory, MINT offers, etc.
• Podcast "BildungVerverbindt": The podcast offers a platform for educational biographies and perspectives of inspiring people;
• Alearnius: The learning blog "Alearnius" is a knowledge platform for students with contributions from our volunteers who want to share their experiences, tips and tricks with the next generation - from learning strategies to experiences in the FSJ to tips on financing your studies;
• Corona-Abitur: In order to offer support to high-school graduates who were disadvantaged by the corona pandemic, the Aelius Förderwerk 2021 launched the "Corona-Abitur" project together with the "Diverse Young Leaders" initiative. With free crash courses, over 3,000 students have been supported in successfully completing their school-leaving certificate;
• Tech4School: With the free IT workshops as part of the "Tech4School" project, the Aelius Förderwerk 2020 supported teachers in designing their lessons digitally;
• Experience the humanities: Together with the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, the Aelius Förderwerk has brought students closer to studying the humanities in the video series "Experience the humanities".
• Photo campaign #EducationConnects: We want to offer young people a platform so that their voices are heard and they can report on the hurdles and challenges they had to overcome on their life and educational path. Under the hashtag #BildungVerverbindt, young people tell their stories on social media.
