About us

We are a community of God’s children dedicated to rescuing children in Kenya from abuse, poverty, child marriage, and female genital mutilation (FGM). We are called to provide shelter to the homeless, family to the orphan, food to the hungry, and healing to the hurt
Hope Beyond Transitional Center is a center in Kimana, Kenya that provides a home, family, and psychosocial support for at-risk children across Kenya.

Our Vision is to see children in stable homes empowered to lead and uphold Christian values.

Our mission is to rescue, support and reintegrate children into communities and stable families while working with the society at large to eliminate homelessness, female genital mutilation (FGM), childhood marriage, and abuse.

Programs:
• Rescue Program: The center provides a safe and enabling environment for psychosocial support to children and all victims of FGM, child marriage, gender-based violence and any other forms of abuse that affects the rights and dignity of individuals and families. However, this is a temporary solution to the real problem. We hence endeavor to advocate for behavioral change in our community and the families for a long-term solution which is family reintegration.
• Drip Irrigation: Drip Irrigation is the most efficient water and nutrient delivery system for growing crops. It delivers water directly to the plant’s root zone, in the right amounts, at the right time, so each plant gets exactly what it needs, when it needs it, to grow optimally. It enables us to produce higher yields while saving on water as well as energy. This holistic farm management approach creates a socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable food production system. This will ensure we have an yearlong harvest of produce.
• Chicken Project: Just One Africa and the amazing team of donors have funded this project among others and Hope has actualized it by building a modern chicken coop. This project will ensure that there is enough protein supply for the kids and staff at the center. Surplus of the egg and meat production will be sold to provide income for other activities and needs at the center.
• Fruit Farm: Fruit and vegetables should be an important part of your daily diet. They are naturally good and contain vitamins and minerals that can help to keep you healthy. They can also help protect against some diseases. At Hope, we believe in providing balanced diet for our children. We have a richly cultivated garden where we have planted all sorts of fruits to ensure we have an year round supply for the same.
• Solar Water Pumping Millions of people around the world live with limited access to water. In many communities, ground water is extracted through electric water pumps, which use petrol or diesel to fuel their systems. However, these systems not only require costly, regular servicing, but the purchasing of fuel is also quite expensive. Hope Beyond through the partnership of Just One Africa have installed high quality solar pumping system to guarantee steady supply of water to the center. This has resulted to improved irrigation system for the gardens. The newly constructed bathrooms too have sufficient supply of water for showers.
• Cows and Goats Rearing: The livestock projects are doing great! Three of the five cows are expecting calves in the next few months, while one already gave birth to a bull who we named Clay!, and twin kids were just born a few weeks ago in the goat project with several more on the way. These projects not only provide the much-needed produce for consumption at the center, but also act as s therapy to these kids. They love engaging in taking care of these animals which also gives them a homely/cultural and ethnic feel.
