Qui sommes-nous

The association Global Initiative Promotion (GIF) was founded in June 2015 by Hannes Kreissl. After graduating from high school, he did a one-year voluntary service stint in Tanzania. There he met many active local people who had incredibly innovative ideas and were willing to do social work for their community.
We are a social association with volunteer members and we support people in disadvantaged countries who show initiative to improve their world for themselves and those around them.
At GIF we avoid unnecessary costs and take care to avoid corruption and misuse of funds. The donations we receive are distributed to the projects.
We are a colourful bunch, with members from all over Germany and the world. For some time we have also been supported from Zurich and Giessen. We all have one thing in common: the desire to make the world a little bit fairer. Above all, we are characterized by our diverse experience of working in developing countries.

Projects:
• Lothar Health Centre: A health centre is being built in Tanzania based on a great local initiative. On site, we work together with the NGO "Lothar Health Development", which, in addition to the infirmary, also manages a number of side projects that are intended to help finance construction and operation. The LHC already has around 12 hectares of land available for forestry and agriculture. In addition to around 6000 trees of different ages, seven dairy cows have already been purchased. On the one hand, the cultivation of the land contributes to the financial independence of the project and, on the other hand, the resources generated will help to support the provision of nutritious meals from the hospital kitchen. Incidentally, hospital food is rare in Tanzania - this point is one of many with which the brothers are planning to create an exemplary improvement in the quality of care in their country. The operation of the infirmary will start with four buildings and initially cover the areas of basic care, later expansions are to be made according to needs. In 2014 work began on building the foundation for the infirmary. First of all, two wards, a laboratory building and an administration wing will be erected, in which the treatment of outpatients and the care of chronically ill people, who are HIV positive, for example, will take place.
• Audiology building: construction of an audiology building to assess the hearing loss of people who are hard of hearing. In the village of Pomerini, attached to the local school. The project was initiated by the local organization "TEPDGHO" (Tanzania Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities and Gender Health organization), which is also responsible for the local implementation. GIF provides funding with a grant from the “W.P. Schmitz Foundation”.

On request, we can provide advice for other network participants, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date specialist information and contacts in the field of our work.
