About us

The KARIBS Foundation is a pan-African research and development institute based in Accra Ghana, West Africa. We are a non-profit, non-governmental, people-centered civil society organization. The foundation was established since 15th June 2015, and was officially incorporated into the company’s code of Ghana on the 13th July 2017 by the Registrar Generals Department of Ghana, with registration number – CG082812017.

The mission of the KARIBS Foundation is to mitigate societal challenges through civic engagement, research, and policy analysis to stimulate community and national development

Our vision is to realize a society where development is at the doorstep of the citizenry, a synergized society with empowered population.

What we do:
Our operations focus is on education, livelihood, protection, empowerment, environment and advocacy, which are embedded in our 5 thematic areas of operation. We worked extensively on the Millennium Development Goals and now our work and vision is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
• Education: Peace-building. Human rights. Capacity enhancements
• Livelihood: Entrepreneurial initiatives. Agri-business. Eco-tourism
• Environment: Greening activities. Protection of water bodies. Climate action
• Advocacy: Governance. Research. Civic engagements. Policy alternatives
• Protection: Human trafficking. Minorities’ rights abuse. Counter extremism and Gender based violence.
Projects:
• The NIBALA Africa Volunteers (NAV). Is a grassroots, youth driven community development project. Previously worked on the Millennium Development Goals and the Poverty Reduction Strategy Programs. We are now working to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, by providing opportunities to volunteers, interns and research workers around the world to leave a lasting impact on the lives of women, youth, children in under-served communities.
• The NTOYON Africa Retreats and Expeditions (NARE): Is a cultural and eco-tourism initiative with focus areas on tourism and culture? NARE focuses on rural expeditions & cultural immersions.
• The ALBARKA Project is focused on empowerment and sensitization on civic engagement, peace building, human rights, violence/counter extremism and pressing public interest issues through direct trainings of target groups and training of trainers to cascade on young people and women in disadvantaged communities.
