Qui sommes-nous

The International Book Project (IBP) is committed to empowering communities to provide free and equal access to knowledge for all people. With a focus on sustainable self-development, IBP builds global partnerships that foster cultural understanding and bring people together for common goals.

The International Book Project is a non-profit organization created in 1966 by Harriet Van Meter that promotes literacy, education and global friendships by sending over 200,000 books annually to schools, libraries, churches, community organizations and Peace Corps Volunteers throughout the developing world and in the United States.

The International Book Project accepts requests for books from organizations throughout the world, such as churches, missionary groups, primary and secondary schools, community and school libraries, universities, and the U.S. Peace Corps.

Programs:
• Books as Bridges is a service-learning initiative that connects classrooms in the United States with classrooms in developing countries. IBP´s Books as Bridges program has grown and adapted to provide educational and rewarding experiences for students throughout Central Kentucky as well as for our partners overseas.

Projects:
• Building a library in Rwanda
• Assisiting schools in Uganda

We send books by the:
• Mail-bag: 35-pound boxes of books that can go anywhere with a postal address.
• Pallet: A pallet typically contains 700 - 1,000 books.
• Sea Container: 20-foot or 40-foot containers that travel by sea, carrying 10,000-20,000 books.

Tracy Taylor is the Executive Director of the International Book Project (IBP).
