Qui sommes-nous

The association Hand in Hand for the Gambia was founded in Mainz in 2015 with the aim of giving more children and young people in Gambia access to education (school and training). The funding is aimed primarily at girls. In addition, we want to help schools with financial support to create decent learning conditions. This includes safe buildings with sufficient space, suitable equipment and sufficient teaching materials.

The implementation of these goals takes place via:
• The arrangement of student sponsorships. Girls in particular should benefit from the funding. The “package” for a sponsorship includes for each school year: payment of the school fees; books and teaching material; a backpack; the school uniform; a pair of shoes and medication or medical treatment if necessary.
• Three schools in the rural north of Gambia (North Bank) are financially supported. The schools are located in the villages of Chamen, Prince and Ndungu Kebbeh. The schools receive a donation of up to 1,500 euros for teaching material per school year.
• Projects are also being implemented at the three project schools, such as the installation of solar systems, water pumps, school furniture, bicycles for long journeys to school and much more. A total of 1,500 pupils will be reached with the measures.
• Apprenticeship positions are financed. The focus is on young women.

Tanja Girke-Bojang is the 1st chairperson responsible for coordination, sponsorships, projects, public relations and Lamin K. Bojang is the 2nd chairperson and contact person for Gambia / Sponsorships from Hand in Hand for the Gambia e.V ..
