Qui sommes-nous

The Father Charles Convention e.V. is a non-profit association, founded in 2007, that escorts a small village called Kasambya in Uganda from poverty to economic independence.
O
n the basis of the Millennium Villages of the United Nations, we look at all areas of life simultaneously. The integration of all villagers into the project is at the forefront.
The individual project parts are
• life (water, health / hygiene),
• learning (child and adult education),
• working (agriculture and other professions),
• organization,
• technologies such as energy, telecommunications and mobility with vehicles.

Absolute sustainability is the focus of all measures. The project has 9 volunteers in Germany and 10 team members in the Kasambya team in Uganda.

Our work
• First, the water supply was ensured together with the residents. More than 30 cisterns on residential buildings and three wells now supply all residents with clean drinking water.
• In 2007, at the beginning of the project, most residents suffered from malaria. Only a handful of people had a mosquito net.
• In addition to the construction and renovation of toilets, hygiene advice and expansion of the ihealth station, we initially provided mosquito nets.
• Meanwhile, four health workers have been trained to provide counseling and first aid in the village today. The mothers and child mortality could be reduced by the helpers to zero.
• The members of the founded agricultural cooperative are now earning a good income with agriculture and with this money they can send their children to the new school which our foundation is building currently.

Peter Hurrelmann is the Chairman and the Project Manager of the Father Charles Convention e.V..
